Key Fund was formed by a group of like-minded social entrepreneurs and philanthropists in 1999 to invest in communities and social enterprises that have traditionally been excluded and turned down by mainstream lenders; particularly those in disadvantaged areas. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Key Fund has created and safeguarded over 5,000 jobs in England. Originally operating in South Yorkshire, Key Fund now works throughout the North of England funding projects in Greater Manchester.

What we offer

Social Investment (Loans & Grants)

Provides funding from about £5,000 to £300,000 to charities, community organisations, social enterprises and small businesses in Greater Manchester.

Support for Start-ups, Growth & Asset Purchase

Funds a wide range of uses: start-up costs, working capital, refurbishments, property/asset purchase, energy-efficiency upgrades (e.g. solar panels), staff expansion, IT upgrades and service scaling.

Pre and Post Investment Advice & Support

Offers guidance, business-planning support, and ongoing support post-investment to help social enterprises become sustainable.
